Privacy Policy
Xerge Technologies LLP (“Xerge”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our websites, digital visiting card, Android and iOS applications, WhatsApp channels, and push notifications (including Firebase Cloud Messaging).
By using our Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. For questions, email info@xerge.in.
1. Who we are
Xerge Technologies LLP is a Bengaluru-based technology company. Registered / correspondence location: Bengaluru, Karnataka — 560034, India.
- Company email: info@xerge.in
- Founder email: ram@xerge.in
- Website: https://xerge.in
We are the data controller (and, where we process data for a customer organisation, may act as a processor) for personal information described in this policy, except where a third-party platform (for example WhatsApp, Apple, Google, or Firebase) is independently a controller of data you give that platform.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to:
- Web — xerge.in and related pages (including xerge.in/vcard)
- Android — mobile applications we publish on Google Play or distribute otherwise
- iOS — mobile applications we publish on the App Store or distribute otherwise
- WhatsApp — messages you send to or receive from our business / support numbers
- Push notifications — including Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android, and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) on iOS (often delivered via FCM)
- Email and contact forms — inquiries sent to info@xerge.in or ram@xerge.in
It does not cover third-party websites, stores, or apps we do not control. Those parties have their own policies.
3. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the Services. Categories may include:
Information you provide
- Name, email address, phone number, organisation, and message content (contact forms, email, WhatsApp)
- Account details if an app requires sign-in (for example display name, email, organisation identifier)
- Support requests and attachments you choose to send
- Contact details saved when you download our digital visiting card (.vcf)
Information from devices (Android, iOS, web)
- Device type, OS version, app version, language, time zone
- Diagnostics: crash logs, performance metrics, approximate network type
- IP address and basic request logs when you visit our website (as collected by hosting / CDN)
- Push notification tokens (FCM registration tokens and, on iOS, APNs device tokens)
Permissions (mobile)
Some app features may request OS permissions. We request a permission only when needed for a feature you use. Typical examples:
- Notifications — to send alerts via FCM / APNs
- Camera / microphone / storage — only if a specific product feature requires them, and only after you grant access
- Location — only if a feature needs it; we do not collect precise location in the background unless a product explicitly states that and you opt in
You can revoke permissions in Android Settings or iOS Settings. The related feature may then stop working.
Cookies and similar technologies (web)
Our marketing site is primarily static. Hosting infrastructure may set strictly necessary cookies or logs for security, load balancing, and availability. If we later add analytics (for example Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics), we will update this policy and, where required, obtain consent.
Information we do not collect by default
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not collect payment card data on xerge.in (payments, if any, are handled by app stores or designated processors).
- We do not use your WhatsApp chats to train public AI models.
4. How we use information by platform
Web (xerge.in)
- Display our company site and digital visiting card
- Respond to contact-form and email inquiries
- Secure and operate the website
The homepage contact form currently opens your email client with a pre-filled message to info@xerge.in. That message is processed as ordinary business email.
Android
- Provide app features you request
- Register the device for push notifications (FCM token)
- Diagnose crashes and improve reliability
- Authenticate you if the app has accounts
Google Play services, Android OS, and Google LLC process some device and account data under Google’s policies when you use Play, Play Services, or FCM.
iOS
- Provide app features you request
- Register the device for push notifications (APNs, often via FCM)
- Diagnose crashes and improve reliability
- Authenticate you if the app has accounts
Apple Inc. processes some device and Apple ID data under Apple’s policies when you use the App Store or APNs.
5. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
We may use Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google / Firebase service) to send push notifications on Android and iOS. Typical data involved:
- FCM registration token — a device-specific identifier used to deliver messages to that app install
- APNs token (iOS) — passed through Firebase to Apple’s push service
- Topic or device-group identifiers — if we send broadcast or segmented notifications
- Delivery metadata — whether a message was accepted, delayed, or failed (not the full contents of every user action)
We use FCM to:
- Send operational alerts (for example device status, job completion, security notices)
- Send service updates you have opted into
- Not to send spam; marketing pushes are sent only where allowed and, where required, with your consent
Google processes FCM tokens and related telemetry according to the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and Google’s privacy policy. Tokens are not a substitute for your name, but they can identify a particular app installation.
Opt out: disable notifications for the app in Android or iOS Settings, or use in-app notification controls if provided. Uninstalling the app invalidates the token. You can also email info@xerge.in and ask us to stop sending pushes associated with your account.
6. WhatsApp messages
If you message us on WhatsApp (including links such as wa.me from our digital card or site):
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) processes your account, phone number, device, and message metadata under Meta’s WhatsApp Privacy Policy. End-to-end encryption applies to message content in transit as described by WhatsApp.
- We receive the phone number, profile name you use on WhatsApp, and the content of messages (and media) you send to us.
- We use that information to respond to inquiries, provide support, and maintain a business conversation record as needed for service delivery, security, and legal obligations.
- We may store chats in our email, CRM, or support tools used by authorised staff.
We will not add you to broadcast lists without a lawful basis (for example your request or consent). To stop WhatsApp contact, message us “STOP” or email info@xerge.in. Blocking our number in WhatsApp also stops further messages from that chat.
8. Retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including support history, security, accounting, and legal retention. Inquiry emails and WhatsApp threads are typically kept for the life of the customer relationship plus a reasonable archive period, then deleted or anonymised unless law requires otherwise.
FCM tokens are kept while the app remains installed and the account (if any) is active; we delete or refresh tokens when they expire, you uninstall, or you ask us to stop notifications.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures (access control, HTTPS where we control the endpoint, least-privilege staff access). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Personal information may be processed in India and in other countries where our providers (including Google/Firebase and Apple) operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards.
9. Your rights
Depending on applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other rules that may apply to you), you may request to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Erase information we no longer need to retain
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example optional notifications)
- Nominate another person to exercise rights on your behalf, where the law provides for that
Email info@xerge.in with the subject “Privacy request”. We may need to verify your identity. You may also have the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority.
10. Children
Our Services are directed at businesses, institutions, and adult professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact info@xerge.in and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy, where permitted by law.
